Nieuwegein, 22 May 2023 - VolkerWessels Logistics Development is developing a new distribution center (DC) for B&R Premium Logistics on the De Beitel business park in Heerlen. The DC is expected to be completed in November 2023. B&R Premium Logistics has been established for many years at various locations in Heerlen and the surrounding area. The new DC, on the A76, gives the logistics service provider the opportunity to expand further at a strategic location.
The project
Business park De Beitel in Heerlen is the largest business park in the Parkstad Limburg region. The project at Sourethweg 1 is located along the A76 and is therefore a suitable location for companies that are looking for a combination of transport, warehousing and office space. The distribution center has a total size of 37,800 m2, including 31,000 m2 warehouse, 5,700 m2 mezzanine and 1,100 m2 office space.
Sustainable
The project is a redevelopment of the former glass factory AGC. The new building is gasless and the building installations are fully electric. There are approximately 10,000 PV panels on the roof, which can generate an annual amount of electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 1,800 homes. In addition, the distribution center is certified on the basis of the new BREEAM requirements BRL 2020. All this makes the project a very sustainable choice for any company.
Build
The DC is being built by Systabo, another VolkerWessels company. Kern Architecten is responsible for the design of the location. Sight law advised the developer on a legal level and Jorritsma Vastgoed was involved as a broker during this project.
